Elvin Guri, one of AAA's "three highly respected members of our community and ex-Board of Trustees Members" (per Dancho Karabinov) on Facebook:
"Friends, it seems that some people were offended by my use of a certain Bulgarian proverb during the community update last week. In order to avoid misunderstandings and, more importantly, willful misinterpretation, here's some clarifications for those who didn't have the time, the patience, or the willingness to sit through the whole meeting: (1) I represent neither the AAA nor (and much less) the Alumni community. My opinions are solely my own; (2) when referring to the leadership (of the Board and the Administration of the University), I suggested that "repeating the same thing and expecting different results is the definition of crazy. Or, to use the blunt Bulgarian expression, you can't make a new brothel with old whores." I stand by that comment, and take full personal responsibility for it; (3) having said that, I apologize to anyone outside the leadership of the Board and the Administration who feels that this comment applied to them. It doesn't, and I regret any insult that this may have caused to them; (4) with hindsight, I shouldn't have used the term. Not because it is not applicable, far from it, but because it feeds the efforts of the people in charge of the Board and the Administration to disparage and divide the Alumni community. For that, I sincerely apologize to all of you."
Shame on you, Elvin!
You have done a lot to disparage and divide the alumni community!
