Open Letter to the AUBG Board of Trustees/Board of Directors cc: University Council cc: All Concerned Alumni 08 Nov 2018
As a concerned alumnus I am compelled to address AUBG stakeholders about an issue of tremendous importance about the future of AUBG. Both the leadership of our beloved Alma mater and the leadership of the Board have been addressed to no avail. The morally and procedurally questionable actions of the AUBG Board need to stop.
This is why I must ask each of you to make a clear stand and increase the pressure until Elena Poptodorova and the current AUBG Board Leadership is replaced or resigns.
In early 2017, AUBG Alumni were stunned to find out that the Deputy Chair of AUBG Board of Trustees, Elena Poptodorova, was detained in the Warsaw Airport.
More than 800 alumni supported a petition whose very first demand was the resignation of Elena Poptodorova and others responsible for the deep governance crisis at AUBG (see www.gopetition.com/petitions/aubg-alumni-petition-call-for-action.html) AUBG Board showed contempt for this petition and did nothing.
In September 2017, a group of alumni created a CONDITIONAL financial Pledge in support of AUBG with total value of $5 million. More than 175 alumni have already pledged $280,000 to be transfered to AUBG upon meeting several conditions, the very first of which is the resignation of Elena Poptodorova and the rest of the Board leadership.
In October 2018, AUBG alumni understood that despite all lies and denials at the time, Elena Poptodorova has plead guilty of the theft in question (see frognews.bg/novini/zapis-elena-poptodorova-letishteto-vav-varshava-ulichava-laja-vzetata-kozmetika.html)
You think that is enough to get her to resign? No! She applies to be a Board Member of the American Chamber of Commerce, representing AUBG!
This is a disgrace to AUBG! It is time for each of you to make a decision - publicly announce your opinion. AUBG Alumni and AAA Board members have already done so - both at the time of the original news and since then. Other notable alumni (Deyan Vassilev, Александър Стоименов, Zlati Dimitrov, Emil Tsenov, Stoyan Kurtev, Andrey Bachvarov and many others have already denounced that behavior in the AUBG Alumni Group
Please write to all our alumni on AmCham Board and on AUBG Board to stop this immoral action.
Board members - today each of you must take a clear stand. Publicly denounce the actions of Elena Poptodorova - or resign.
Our beloved AUBG and all AUBG alumni deserve nothing short of that.

What? Poptodorova is now the Acting Chair? The convicted thief from Warsaw is now Acting Chair of AUBG? What is next? Acting President, perhaps? Where is the Alumni Association? #whereisaaa

Poptodorova was - again! - heavily medicated today! But should she be saying that a “higher authority” made her do it? Can we really use the US Embassy like this? How can it help AUBG? What? Poptodorova is now the Acting Chair? The convicted thief from Warsaw is now Acting Chair of AUBG? What is next? Acting President, perhaps? Where is the Alumni Association? #whereisaaa

Recently Vasko Terziev asked all of us who signed the pledge to release the funds. Did he forget that one of the conditions was the removal of Deputy Chair Elena Poptodorova? Did he forget that she is a disgrace for AUBG? Anyone else feel that way?

Check the resolutions from the May Board meeting! She needs to resign from the Board and sit out a full year before she can apply!

She resigned I think. Can someone check this? Even if she resigned (not a word on this?), she needs to stay out for a full year before she can accept a paid position with AUBG - see Resolution#9 from May 2019 that was sent to the community. Or was that just another lie?

As far as I remember original proposal was for 3 years. The rule was set for one year. It is worth for some current BOT's to wait 1 year and get prestigious AUBG position. We will see. VP advancement case - wait one 1 year. Start getting 300000 per year and wait for another Warsaw story. I dont know.

Let us wait and see who will resign next BOT meeting. Four Board members resigned - some of them in protest - and there is no word from anyone??? We used to have student media and Faculty reps once upon a time.
